Vintage Thompson Opal Enamels

The Thompson opals, numbered 835 to 859: white, pink, periwinkle, hunters, elephant, beige, mauve, chartreuse, turquoise, raisin, ultramarine, golden rod and flame red. They develop a soft opalescent bloom during firing, so the fired surface sits between a transparent and an opaque. Pre-1990, 80 mesh, lead bearing, medium fusing at 1450 to 1550F for two to four minutes. Sold by the ounce, with 8 and 16 ounce sizes on a few colors.
